Dang. That’s scary and disturbing. What would Stiletta eaten after the food ran out… the connection to the diamond mine and its contents are frighteningly grotesque. It takes a lot of ignorance or love to do that to a child. Sounds like Valintine is quite the manipulator to ‘stumble’ on this ripe naive witch. Wouldn’t take much to convince a traumatized and shell shocked girl thrown into the real world that she had been wronged and there are those who have all that she desires who continue to do so.
How many derringers (generic name) does Merrick have hidden away? Too many to be not packing from earlier. Why play an ace when a two will do… diplomacy from the mouth before the barrel unless events dictate otherwise.
Holy shit I never saw any of this coming. I thought maybe Stiletta was supposed to be what Sera becomes if she rejects cutesieness, and that the whole thing with stealing the lockets was supposed to mean that that version of her hadn’t rejected it completely. Now I know that it was because Stiletta’s not only insane, but emotionally stunted and just wanted them because they’re pretty.
Yow, she’s got quite the backstory. A history like that’s got to make her… well, as strange a character as she is. She can’t just be after Sera simply because she’s famous, though, can she? That’d be too simple. Valentine’s still only summarized half of her life story…
And Merrick seems clearly outmatched. He better not be trying anything…
I really don’t like Stiletta. Even if she’s naive and a victim, she still killed a lot of people. And I get the feeling that she sees Sera as her entertaining plaything like some kind of creepy manipulative fangirl. I’m scared for Merrick and Sera.
Well, that’s…intriguing. Stiletta certainly has a hefty backstory. In the very least, it explains why she’s so…blargh. And finally the actual plot and the old news reels are coming together!
This Valentine…well, first off I keep imagining him with Slade’s voice. Yes, that one. That should say it all, really.
To put it simply, I highly doubt he took Stiletta on as an apprentice out of the kindness of his heart and the generosity of his soul.
And uh, Merrick…please be careful, you NEED that arm! <8[
Day-um! That was like, 10 times more brilliant than I could have imagined. Which is why Aaron’s writing it and not me……
(ooh, wait…. Willemina was missing for 17 years, Theo & Christianne were murdered 3 years ago, guess whodunnit…. C’mon Valentine, surely you could’ve taught her better in all that time! He must have found her quickly, a mad unsolved killing spree would have been mentioned if the von Vedecker deaths were part of it…..)
(ooh again….. someone noticed a Stilletta-lookalike on the p. 51 news report…. probably a cousin or something!)
And i just gotta say, that is just totally rude, using someone else’s arm that way. Assuming that’s the severed one, which we already *know* has a gun….
(waitaminit…. that’s a lefty, Merrick was using his right….. is it really him, or did Stilletta warp his hand up, or is that another one of those reasons a crew of dozens of editors is nice to have before publishing?) π (Don’t hate me Aaron!)
I don’t think Stiletta is a vapid puppet or Sera’s evil twin. I think Stiletta just sees Sera hiding from the fame and fortune she herself never got to experience and in turn, resents her even more for it. That may be where Skarsdayle plays into all this, she gave Stiletta a taste of the fruits of big money and she saw Sera’s rejection as an affront.
Who knows? Aaron.
At least Merrick isn’t going to bleed out with the witch burns on his new stump, but I hope he’s ambidextrous. If so maybe he can actually do something with that pea shooter. SHOWDOWN!
Would conjured food have nutritional value to the witch that conjured it? I’m wondering how Stilletta didn’t starve to death, when Granma did. Or is it part of that witchy-indefinite-lifespan thing? Anyway probably not a lovely experience.
Stiletta had it rough, but it’s not an excuse for how she conducts herself. Compassion in this case involves putting her out of commission quickly … I hope …
ya know if the SSI can control itself after losing a whole bunch of people to Stilleta and her ecto manipulations, i.e. not hunting her down to the point of death. Merrick please take note, or is he aiming at Valentine.
I bet she and Sera could become friends. They’ve both suffered some pretty weird-bad childhoods.
@tomh: “I bet she and Sera could become friends. Theyβve both suffered some pretty weird-bad childhoods.”
Funny, I was actually thinking the same thing, if they can just work out their current issues.
(I’ve tried *not* to think about how that snakey-tongue could get used…. bad troll! bad!)
And something about the limp, awkward way that arm’s moving tells me that it’s left-ness is probably a boo-boo…. that, & the way it’s sorta veering in the direction of Sera’s head……
I wonder if Sera can put his arm back on. We’ve seen her fix a tv, maybe she can put a lopped off limb back in place with a little concentration. Or maybe the witch burns make that too difficult. Hopefully she can at least conjure up some morphine for the poor guy.
Woah, that’s a lot to take in. I kind of feel that backstory deserved to be told in a few panels to accompany the big ol’ monologue.. (I loved the pacing of the first SR book, with so much packed into each page. You do that so well! π This one seems like it has more big spreads, or maybe that’s just the online format…be interesting to see if it reads differently as a book, I can’t wait!)
yeah, see now i kinda feel sorry for stiletta… poor thing only needs better guidance. I love that close up of her’s it’s like she’s dumb…
WELL! That explains quite a bit, and also adds some reasoning to the odd tidbits of news dealing with this noteworthy diamond mine.
Stilleta has become scarier for her envy of Sera’s life…
And now we must wait. An ENTIRE WEEKEND. For more. >:
All I have to say: no wonder she’s a psycopath
That last panel is worryingly ambiguous- if that’s Merrick trying to do something I fear for his other arm…

Finally Stiletta has her name mentioned in print.
Being locked in a cave for so long, how did Stiletta aquire her fantastic sense of style?
Holy shit I never saw any of this coming. I thought maybe Stiletta was supposed to be what Sera becomes if she rejects cutesieness, and that the whole thing with stealing the lockets was supposed to mean that that version of her hadn’t rejected it completely. Um… yeah. Hurry Merrick! Kill the purple dude!
Still wondering why Stiletta is connected to Skarsdale…
Yow, she’s got quite the backstory. A history like that’s got to make her… well, as strange a character as she is. She can’t just be after Sera simply because she’s famous, though, can she? That’d be too simple. Valentine’s still only summarized half of her life story…

Nice! the threads are comming together at last, also nice to see Merrick has’nt bead to death yet.
Day-um! That was like, 10 times more brilliant than I could have imagined. Which is why Aaron’s writing it and not me……

Well now there is explanation. At this point I’m starting to think Skarsdayle has nothing to do with this.
Or maybe. Who knows? And just as Sera was getting a chance to study with Vicious. Life sucks for her…
And Merrick: you KNOW witches can stop bullets, right? Don’t waste your arm, mate.
And now it seems I owe K11 20$.
ohhhhh god i don’t think than that happen this!!!!!shit come on!!! sera kick a** of the emo witch
Dude…I really feel sorry for Stiletta…
P.S.:Cave-dwelling grandmas = future psychopaths.

Alright! Time for apprentice-vs-apprentice! Not to mention Vicious. She should come and beat that guy senseless!
hmm i’m a little lost, but that does explain it about Stiletta
Would conjured food have nutritional value to the witch that conjured it? I’m wondering how Stilletta didn’t starve to death, when Granma did. Or is it part of that witchy-indefinite-lifespan thing? Anyway probably not a lovely experience.

so she is not a part of sera….thats good to know
holeeeee shiiiiiit thats craziness. i applaud you heartily aaron, and your sick, twisted mind. gold star.
Well, this is quite interesting, ..I thought this series was over…
..silly me.
Keep up the madness, and try not to do too much damage…
…a protagonist can only take so much.

OH MY GOD!!! OH MY GOD!!!

only 12 hours to go, Luis…. You can make it! just hang on! hehe π
I wonder if Sera can put his arm back on. We’ve seen her fix a tv, maybe she can put a lopped off limb back in place with a little concentration. Or maybe the witch burns make that too difficult. Hopefully she can at least conjure up some morphine for the poor guy.

huh. for some reason, i can see Valentine being voiced by either Christopher Walken or Anthony Hopkins. or even both.
